Description
The School Principal is responsible for the overall administration and leadership of the school, ensuring a high standard of education and well-being for students and staff. This includes managing day-to-day school operations, implementing educational programs, fostering a positive school culture, overseeing faculty and staff development, and engaging with parents and the local community. The principal ensures compliance with school policies, academic standards, and regulatory requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Academic Leadership
- Develop and implement curriculum standards and assessment methods to ensure quality instruction.
- Evaluate and monitor educational programs to meet state standards and school objectives.
- Facilitate professional development for teachers to enhance instructional methods and student engagement.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teaching staff.
- Stay updated on educational trends, technologies, and teaching practices.
- School Operations and Administration
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the school, including scheduling, facility management, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate student enrolment and registration processes, managing class sizes and maintaining accurate records.
- Handle disciplinary matters with fairness and consistency, in line with school policies.
- Staff Management and Development
- Assist with the recruit, interview, and hiring of qualified staff.
- Supervise and mentor teachers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Conduct regular performance appraisals and provide ongoing feedback to promote professional growth.
- Facilitate team-building activities to improve communication and collaboration among staff.
- Address staff concerns and resolve conflicts in a professional and effective manner.
4. Student Welfare and Development
- Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all students.
- Promote positive student behaviour and manage disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Oversee student support programs, including counselling and academic assistance.
- Support extracurricular activities, sports programs, and events that enhance student development.
- Implement policies that addresses issues like bullying, attendance, and academic honesty.
- Community Engagement and Communication
- Serve as the primary liaison between the school and parents, addressing their concerns and maintaining open communication.
- Promote the school’s vision, mission, and values to the public and prospective families.
- Organize and participate in school events, meetings, and conferences.
6. Strategic Planning and School Improvement
- Develop and implement a school improvement plan that aligns with the school’s mission and goals.
- Conduct regular assessments to monitor the progress of school goals and make necessary adjustments.
- Use data-driven insights to enhance academic programs and support student success.
- Ensure alignment between strategic goals and daily operations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Report to the School Board on the school’s performance, challenges, and achievements.
