ADVERTISEMENT FOR A LIBRARIAN
We are seeking a highly motivated, detailed-oriented and service-driven individual to join our team
as a Librarian. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the library’s resources,
services and daily operations to support the information, research and learning needs of students,
faculty and staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Library Management
Manage the acquisition, organization, cataloguing, and classification of all library resources
(books, journals, e-resources, etc.).
Maintain an up-to-date and efficient library management system (LMS).
Ensure proper shelving, labeling, and preservation of library materials.
Supervise circulation services (issue, return, renewals, etc.)
2. User Services
Assist students, faculty, and staff in locating and using library resources.
Conduct orientation sessions and workshops on information literacy and library usage.
Provide reference and research support services to users.
Promote library services through displays, guides, and outreach programs.
3. Digital and E-Resources
Manage subscriptions to digital databases, journals, and e-books.
Assist users in accessing and navigating online resources.
Ensure integration and maintenance of digital library platforms and tools.
4. Library Administration
Prepare library budgets and coordinate procurement of new resources.
Maintain usage statistics, inventory records, and prepare reports for audits or accreditation.
Develop and enforce library policies and rules in alignment with institutional guidelines.
Supervise library assistants, clerks, and student workers (if applicable).
5. Collection Development
Evaluate and recommend acquisition of new titles based on curriculum and research needs.
Weed out damaged materials to maintain a current and relevant collection.
Any other duty assigned by the President or his representative
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Minimum of Master of Arts in Information Studies or equivalent and a Minimum of 2 to 3
years work experience as a librarian in an academic or research library.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Proficient in information retrieval, cataloging standards and metadata schemas.
