The Draftsman/Clerk of Works is responsible for preparing detailed architectural and structural drawings for construction projects while also overseeing site works to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. The role combines office-based drafting duties with on-site inspection and supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Drafting Duties:
Prepare accurate architectural, structural, and shop drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
Translate design sketches and specifications from architects/engineers into detailed construction drawings.
Update and revise drawings to reflect design changes or site conditions.
Produce as-built drawings and maintain organized drawing documentation.
Assist in preparing bills of quantities (BOQs), material schedules, and construction details.
Ensure all drawings comply with building codes, regulations, and standards.
Clerk of Works / Site Duties:
Monitor and inspect construction works to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Check workmanship, materials, and methods used by contractors, reporting any defects or deviations.
Maintain accurate site records, including daily progress logs, material deliveries, and weather conditions.
Ensure health and safety standards are strictly adhered to on-site.
Act as the client’s representative to safeguard project quality and value for money.
Attend site meetings with consultants, contractors, and clients.
Prepare progress and inspection reports highlighting potential delays, risks, or quality issues.
Assist in resolving technical and construction-related challenges on-site
