Job Overview
The Country Manager role is a hybrid of General Management and Marketing Leadership, with a primary focus on marketing, branding, and community building. Acting as the face of the company in Ghana, the Country Manager will bridge headquarters with the local market, ensuring smooth execution of strategy while adapting initiatives to local culture and consumer behavior. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading local operations, launching marketing campaigns, overseeing customer support, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving measurable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Communication
- Serve as the company’s primary representative in Ghana, embodying its
values and vision. - Act as the main liaison between HQ and the Ghana office, ensuring effective
communication of goals and updates. - Build and manage a multidisciplinary local team (customer support, finance, marketing).
- Foster a collaborative office culture that balances local autonomy with global alignment.
2. Marketing, Branding & Community Building
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to build strong brand recognition.
- Organize community-driven initiatives (roadshows, campus tours, pop-up
events, loyalty programs). - Partner with media agencies, influencers, and event organizers to enhance
brand visibility. - Lead local creative development (radio, influencer content, event themes).
- Grow and manage a vibrant social media presence in alignment with global standards.
3. Media Planning, Negotiation & Buying
- Lead media planning and secure cost-effective deals across TV, radio, outdoor, and digital platforms.
- Negotiate added value benefits and ensure efficient budget use.
- Analyze ROI of media channels and adjust investments accordingly.
- Ensure all media buys comply with Ghanaian regulations.
4. Customer Support Management
- Establish and oversee a customer support function, ensuring timely,
- multilingual service.
- Set KPIs for service quality (response times, satisfaction scores).
- Train the team to handle inquiries on payments, responsible gaming, and
- complaints.
- Funnel customer feedback into product and marketing improvements.
5. Finance & Accounting Oversight
- Supervise local finance and accounting (payroll, expenses, tax compliance,
- reporting).
- Deliver accurate monthly P&L and cash flow reports to HQ.
- Work with auditors and tax consultants to ensure compliance.
- Manage costs while scaling operations and marketing.
6. Strategy, Analytics & Performance Tracking
- Monitor campaign performance and track KPIs (registrations, deposits,
- DAUs, CAC, LTV, churn).
- Provide insights and recommendations to HQ for strategy adjustments.
- Conduct quarterly business reviews with HQ.
- Benchmark performance against competitors in Ghana.
7. Regulatory & Compliance Liaison
- Maintain strong relationships with Ghana’s Gaming Commission.
- Ensure all marketing and operations meet regulatory standards.
- Implement responsible gaming practices in all customer interactions.
- Stay updated on legal and tax requirements affecting the industry.
8. Team Building & Talent Development
- Recruit, train, and develop high-performing local talent.
- Build a results-oriented culture with clear goals and recognition.
- Encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing across teams and with HQ.
Key Deliverables
- Establish the Ghana office and build the initial local team.
- Launch the first multi-channel marketing campaign.
- Secure cost-effective media partnerships.
- Build and engage an online and offline brand community.
- Ensure full compliance with Ghanaian gaming regulations.
- Achieve measurable growth in registrations, deposits, and active players.
- Deliver quarterly performance reviews to HQ.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications,or a related field. A master’s degree (MBA or Marketing/Strategy specialization) is an advantage.
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in marketing, brand management, or general management roles, preferably in consumer-facing industries (FMCG, telecom, fintech, gaming, or entertainment).
- Proven track record of leading successful marketing campaigns and brand growth initiatives.
- Experience in building and managing teams, ideally in start-up or market expansion contexts.
- Hands-on knowledge of media planning, buying, and negotiations (TV, radio, OOH, digital).
- Exposure to regulatory and compliance frameworks, especially in highly regulated industries.
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
- Excellent negotiation, networking, and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced understanding of marketing analytics and performance metrics (CAC, LTV, DAU, churn, ROI).
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and reporting.
- Proficiency in digital marketing platforms, CRM systems, and productivity tools.
