JOB OVERVIEW
A reputable and fast-growing organization within the real estate and property development industry is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead and oversee its accounting operations in Ghana. The company operates in property development, asset management, and investment-focused projects, requiring strong financial oversight, structured reporting, and strict regulatory compliance to support sustainable growth. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions of the Ghana office, ensuring accurate record-keeping, timely financial reporting, statutory compliance, and effective internal controls in line with company policies and Ghanaian regulations. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the role involves supervising the accounting team, safeguarding company assets, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and providing reliable financial insights to senior management and headquarters.The position requires a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting expertise, sound knowledge of local tax requirements, and the ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams to maintain efficient financial operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise all accounting operations including general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closings.
Ensure compliance with Ghanaian tax laws (VAT, PAYE, corporate tax) and manage statutory filings.
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for internal and external audits.
Monitor daily cash flow, bank transactions, and petty cash management.
Coordinate with procurement, HR, and project teams to ensure efficient financial workflows.
Ensure accurate postings in the accounting system and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Support budgeting processes by providing historical data and variance analysis (actual vs. forecast).
Assist in the preparation of periodic financial reports for internal management and headquarters.
Monitor cash flow trends, forecast financial needs, and provide regular financial updates to senior management.
Train, mentor, and supervise accountants and junior accounting staff to ensure adherence to accounting standards and policies.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional qualification such as ACCA, ICA (Ghana), CIMA, or CPA (completed or at an advanced stage preferred).
Minimum of 5 years’ progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Strong knowledge of Ghanaian tax laws and statutory requirements (VAT, PAYE, Corporate Tax, SSNIT, etc.).
Proven experience in financial reporting, month-end and year-end closings.
Experience managing audits (internal and external).
Proficiency in accounting software and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Experience within the real estate, property development, construction, or investment sector will be an advantage.
