Ghana To Host AfroGastro Festival 2025 In Accra

Ghana will host the AfroGastro Festival 2025 on October 17–18 at the Forecourt of Parliament in Accra, bringing together chefs, artists, and cultural delegations from across the African continent and the diaspora.
The festival, organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts under the leadership of the sector minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie, is designed as both a food and cultural event, highlighting the enduring ties that connect Africa and its global communities.
More than 30 countries are expected to participate. Caribbean nations, including Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados, will showcase their cuisines alongside South American countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Peru. North America will be represented by the
United States and Mexico, while European participants include the UK, France, Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands. India and Lebanon will also join the event, reflecting historical links with Africa.
From the African continent, delegations will arrive from West, East, North, Central and Southern Africa. Ghana will also present food from all 16 regions, featuring dishes such as akple with fetri detsi, kenkey with fried fish, and tuo zaafi with dawadawa-based soups.
Beyond food, the festival will feature live music, dance, art exhibitions and panel discussions on African food history and identity. Family-friendly activities, including storytelling and children’s cooking classes, are also planned.Supporting institutions include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the British Council Ghana, the Pan African Writers Association, the Ghana Tourism Authority and several cultural agencies.

“This festival is more than food—it is about memory, resilience and connection, through shared meals, we are reclaiming and celebrating our story as one global African family,” the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts said.
