WHAT: Over the last three years, the Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI) (https://GABI.UNGlobalCompact.org/) has become a powerful platform that mobilizes private sector leaders, global investors, industry leaders, philanthropy, academia, and heads of government. The GABI 2024 Highlights Report aims to highlight the outcomes and impact achieved so far, speaking to GABI's growth and the opportunities the platform presents to amplify and accelerate Africa's unstoppable business, trade and investment opportunities, for Africa and the world.

Coordinated by the United Nations Global Compact on behalf of the UN system – GABI has made significant strides highlighting and advancing Africa's vast potential not only as an investment destination but also with its youthful population and wealth in critical minerals and clean energy sources, it is a continent offering solutions for the globe.

In 2022, under the leadership of United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, the inaugural Unstoppable Africa was launched as the flagship event of the Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI) (https://GABI.UNGlobalCompact.org/). This high-level convening emphasized Africa's business ecosystem, showcasing opportunities in sectors such as energy, technology, finance, fashion and agriculture.  Guided by this vision, Unstoppable Africa 2024 embraced the theme "Shaping Global Ambitions for Agenda 2063."

GABI was established to position Africa as a cornerstone of global economic transformation by amplifying Africa's unstoppable business, trade, and investment opportunities while also encouraging innovative partnerships and conveying high-impact initiatives that align with the aspirations of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2063—the African Union's blueprint for inclusive and sustainable development.  GABI has distinguished itself from other Africa focused fora by putting the private sector at the center of the discussions and the solutions. With the tagline of #Unstoppable Africa, GABI has evolved into a global platform where African and global business leaders, governments, investors and philanthropy will connect and catalyze solutions to policy, financial and business opportunities for business. Each September, GABI will hold its flagship convening in New York to take stock of progress over the year.
