Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has urged injured striker Inaki Williams to better adapt to the team’s dynamics as Ghana prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Athletic Bilbao forward missed Ghana’s final two qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros due to injury.
Since completing his nationality switch to Ghana in 2022, Williams has managed just two goals in 25 appearances for the national team—far below expectations for a player of his caliber.
Speaking to Joy Sports, Addo stressed the importance of improving the striker’s integration into the team.
“We have to find a better connection with him, and he has to adapt better with the squad,” Addo said.
The coach also acknowledged that it’s not solely on Williams to make things work.
“I also have to find the best position for him. If we all work on that, we’ll benefit because he has the quality,” he added.
Williams made his debut for the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and has remained part of the squad despite his limited goal return.
He is expected to be included in Ghana’s final squad for the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
The Black Stars will learn their group stage opponents when the World Cup draw is held on December 5.
