The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a postponement of the Ghana Football Retreat, which was initially slated for November 28, 2024, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.
In a statement issued by GFA Communications, the association cited consultations with key partners and stakeholders as the reason for the rescheduling. These discussions highlighted the need for greater inclusivity and deeper dialogue to address pressing issues surrounding the national teams, particularly in the wake of the Black Stars’ recent struggles.
“Following consultations with key partners and stakeholders, it became imperative to reschedule the Ghana Football Retreat to a later date to ensure the full and meaningful participation of all in this important engagement on the national teams,” the GFA explained.
The retreat is seen as a critical step towards revitalizing Ghanaian football following the Black Stars’ disappointing performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where the team failed to win any of their six matches.
The GFA reaffirmed its commitment to providing a platform for constructive discussions to tackle the challenges facing Ghanaian football, emphasizing the need for collaboration with members, partners, and stakeholders.
“A new date for the Retreat will be announced in due course,” the statement continued, thanking all stakeholders for their “understanding and cooperation” in the matter.
The Ghana Football Retreat is expected to serve as a platform to reflect on the challenges within the national teams and propose solutions for charting a forward path for Ghanaian football. Stakeholders eagerly await the new date for what promises to be a pivotal event for the country’s footballing future.
