FC Barcelona is set to bring in another promising Ghanaian talent as the club continues to adapt its scouting strategy amidst ongoing financial challenges.
The Catalan giants are focusing on identifying young, undiscovered talents from Africa, a region they believe holds untapped potential at a lower cost.
This strategic shift, driven by club president Joan Laporta has already begun to yield results. The latest addition to Barcelona’s ranks is 18-year-old left-back David Oduro from Ghana Premier League side Accra Lions, who recently signed a three-year contract with Barça Atlètic after impressing during trials.
Now, according to reports from SPORT, Barcelona is preparing to welcome another young Ghanaian player, Abdul Aziz Issah, from Ghana Premier League side Dreams FC. The 18-year-old midfielder, who has already made a name for himself in the Ghana U20 squad and the African Champions League, is expected to undergo a trial with Barça Atlètic in the coming weeks.
Issah, a highly-rated Ghanaian forward, scored 12 goals and provided four assists last season in the Ghana Premier League and the CAF Confederation Cup. His performances have attracted interest from several clubs, but he is eager to prove himself at Barcelona. If successful in his trial, Issah could secure a move to La Masia, following in the footsteps of his compatriot Oduro.
For now, Issah is waiting for his visa to be processed, allowing him to travel to Barcelona and showcase his skills in Catalonia. With his impressive track record and potential, Barcelona fans will be eager to see what this young midfielder can bring to the team.
