The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa, Mr
Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has reminded assembly members about the need to be accountable to people in their electoral areas.
They should make sure that they seek their views and actively involve them in the planning of development programmes.
Mr Jumah was speaking at a meeting with the elected assembly members in the Asokwa Constituency in Kumasi.
It was meant to fashion out a road map for accelerated improvement of the socio-economic conditions in the area.
The MP advised them to be abreast with the guidelines and standing orders of the assembly in order to perform their duties effectively.
He promised to use part of his MP’s Common Fund to support development programmes initiated by the communities.
Mr King Bonnah, Assembly member for Atonsu, pledged on behalf of his colleagues, to work in close co-operation with the MP to tackle the development needs of the people.
He said he and the MP would work together to build roads, improve sanitation and the street lighting system in the area.
He appealed to the people to do away with partisan politics and give them the necessary support and encouragement to perform.
