The district assembly elections in the Eastern Region scheduled for Tuesday, December 28, had been postponed to Thursday, December 30 by the Electoral Commission.
This was confirmed by the Deputy Eastern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr Eric Mensah-Bonsu in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Koforidua.
He explained that the postponement of the elections was due to the failure of the printers of the Commission to meet the deadline of the Commission.
Mr Mensah-Bonsu further explained that, the issue had affected the elections in other regions and that Western Region would be organizing the elections on the same date with the Eastern Region.
He said Upper West and Central Regions would be conducting their elections on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 while Greater Accra, Ashanti, Volta, Brong Ahafo, Northern and Upper East Regions would be organizing their district assembly elections on Wednesday, December 29, 2010
