The Dormaa circuit court has granted a GHC 10,000 bail with two sureties to be justified to Kwabena Tih, a farmer at Suma-Ahenkro near Sampa, who allegedly threatened to kill a lotto writer over an alleged GHC100 win.
Tih pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared before the court at Dormaa-Ahenkro.
Giving the facts of the case to the court presided by Mr. Alexander Osei Tutu, Detective Inspector Charles Agovi said Tih approached the lotto writer on June 20, 2009 claiming he had won lottery in the sum of lottery.
He said the lotto writer dismissed the claim and challenged Tih to produce the winning ticket.
The prosecutor said an argument ensued between the two and Tih allegedly threatened to shoot the lotto writer to death.
Inspector Agovi said Tih was later seen with a single-barrel gun which he fired twice at the lotto writer but missed.
When some elders of the town tried to calm down Tih and collect the gun, he gave a warning shot to scare them off and took to his heels.
A report was made to the police at Suma-Ahenkro and he was arrested and upon a search, two live cartridges were found on him but he claimed he had sold the gun to one Ali, an Ivorian farmer, the prosecutor added.
Police Inspector Agovi said the police later retrieved the gun with registration number BAG B002-89 from the Ivorian.
