The Presiding Member (PM) of the Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly, Mr Prince Oppong, has demonstrated remarkable commitment to community development by donating his Assembly Member allowances towards key social interventions in his electoral area.
Mr Oppong revealed that he had dedicated his first two months’ allowances to extending water to a WASH facility constructed by Women’s Health to Wealth at St. Peter’s School in Wioso, ensuring pupils and staff have access to clean water at the facility.
The initiative, he said, was inspired by his vision to prioritise the welfare of students and promote quality education through improved facilities.
In addition, the PM has introduced a sanitation initiative in Wioso to keep the town clean.
He has engaged three community members to sweep the principal street of Wioso, pledging to pay them with his subsequent Assembly Member allowances.
To support the exercise, he also donated brooms, rakes and wheelbarrows.
According to him, leadership is not only about occupying a position but also about making sacrifices to meet the pressing needs of the people.
“As leaders, we must always think of the community first. The little resources we have can make a big difference if used for the right purpose,” he noted.
Residents of Wioso and the school community have commended Mr Oppong for his gesture, describing it as a practical example of selfless leadership and a call to other leaders to emulate.
The PM further assured that he would continue to channel his resources and efforts into projects that directly impact the lives of his constituents, particularly in the areas of education, water, and sanitation
