The Korle Klottey Municipal Assem­bly (KoKMA) has recorded its strongest mid-year revenue perfor­mance with Internally Generated Funds (IGF) reaching GH¢16.96 million by June 2025, a 76.6 per cent increase over the same period in 2024.

Delivering his Sessional Address at the First Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the 3rd Assembly in Accra on Friday, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Alfred Allotey-Gaisie, attributed the gains to aggressive revenue mobilisation, including the rollout of a fully digital, cashless property rate collection system that boosted receipts from GH¢2.12 million in 2024 to GH¢10.54 million in 2025.

He said the 2025 allocation of GH¢22 million from the District Assembly Common Fund would finance key priorities such as the 24-hour market project, the Castle Road Dental Clinic, school furni­ture, and sanitation improvement.

On infrastructure, Allotey-Gaisie said steady progress on multiple projects, including zonal council complexes, classroom blocks, mar­ket facilities, storm drain construc­tion, and streetlight installations where over 657 streetlights were inspected, with repair and replace­ment works ongoing.

“The Assembly is also advancing its smart city and digital gover­nance agenda through partnerships such as the newly launched collab­oration with RUDN University in Russia. This training programme will equip municipal staff with advanced skills in sustainable urban management, waste management, and digital service delivery.

In the area of social protec­tion, the Livelihood Empower­ment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme the MCE said the assembly had paid out three cycles for the year, with grants doubled to help beneficiaries cope with rising living costs.

Child protection education had also reached more than 677 stu­dents across 17 schools.

Sanitation remains a top priority. The Assembly is intensifying night patrols and prosecutions against indiscriminate dumping, while pur­suing its Circular Economy Fund to drive private-sector-led waste management and recycling.

Internationally, KoKMA, repre­sented Ghana at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2025, presenting on waste manage­ment innovation and city diplo­macy, and participated in the UN Voluntary Local Review Session to share progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“Our ambition is clear — to make Korle Klottey a smart, inclusive, and globally competitive municipality, “We are not just a local government; we are a partner ready to localise global solutions for the benefit of our people,” the Korle Klottey MCE stated.
