The Vice President and 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has extended appreciation to members of the party's 2024 manifesto subcommittee.
At a meeting held at his residence in Accra on Monday, attended by the chairpersons, vice chairpersons, and members of the various subcommittees, Dr Bawumia commended their dedication and effort in crafting a comprehensive policy document for the elections.
"I want to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to all of you for your dedication and hard work towards putting together such a comprehensive document, which we presented to Ghanaians," Dr Bawumia said.
Despite the outcome of the election, Dr Bawumia praised the quality of the manifesto and the transformational policies it outlined for Ghana's future.
Reflecting on the surprising election results, Dr Bawumia attributed the party's performance to voter apathy among its core supporters.
"It was as if our people held a meeting across the country and decided they won’t go out to vote," he remarked, noting that over two million of the party’s core voters stayed away from the polls.
He emphasised the need for a detailed analysis of the voter apathy issue and assured the committee members that the party would conduct comprehensive research as part of its reorganisation process to chart the way forward.
Dr Bawumia also encouraged the committee members not to feel disheartened by the election’s outcome, stressing the enduring value of their work on the manifesto.
"God willing, we will all benefit from this document in the future," he assured.
The meeting was also attended by Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, who chaired the Manifesto Committee for the 2024 Bawumia campaign.
In recent days, various party groups have visited Dr Bawumia at his residence, where he has expressed gratitude for their support and encouraged them to focus on reorganising and rebuilding the NPP to emerge stronger in future elections.
