The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Dramani Mahama, has visited communities affected by torrential rains in the Upper East Region.
During the visit, he interacted with and consoled those who lost relatives, sympathised with families displaced by the floods and presented relief items to support the communities at Chiana-Paga, Navrongo, Builsa South and Builsa North areas of the region.
Accompanied by national, regional and constituency executives of the NDC, Mr Mahama also paid courtesy calls on the chiefs and elders in the various communities.
At least 30,000 people, including children, were rendered homeless with more than 20 people confirmed dead from the floods and the destruction of houses.
The eight days of torrential rains also injured 19 while hundreds of houses collapsed in the 15 districts of the region.
