Staff and students of Methodist Primary 'B' School at Akumsa Domase in Nkoranza South District on Tuesday demonstrated in the town to protest against the use of the school's premises by some residents as a place of convenience.
Mr. Adjei Siakwan, a teacher of the school, told the Ghana News Agency some unscrupulous youth and hard drug users had virtually turned the school compound into a toilet.
He said several warnings by opinion leaders over the unpleasant practice had fallen on deaf ears as heaps of human excreta are found in front of the classrooms every morning.
"We have reported this matter to Mr. Sarkodie Samson, area council chairman, but to no avail," he said.
The school authorities have called on the chief of the area, Nana Nyarko Boadum 11, and his elders to check the practice.
The unit committee has also been tasked to organise a watchdog committee to help combat crime and to promote discipline among the youth.
