Emmanuel Amenyo, a 20-year-old farmer, was on Wednesday sentenced to a jail term of 12 months for stealing GHC 260.
He pleaded guilty.
Police Inspector Wisdom Nuworkpor told the court that a petty trader, Bismark Frempong-Manso, met and proposed love to a woman who agreed.
He said Frempong-Manso spent the night in the woman's room at Krodua and he was leaving for town the next morning he left a shirt with GHC 260 in the pocket.
When Frempong-Manso returned home later he found that the money was missing and confronted his lover who said it was Amenyo who was seen entering the room.
When Amenyo was questioned he admitted stealing the money and when he was searched GHC 150 was retrieved from his pocket.
He told police that the woman was his former girlfriend who asked him to steal the money for them to share.
