The premises of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MOFEP) were silent on Thursday as the funeral of the Minister, Mr Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu began with a service at the forecourt of the State House.
At about 0800 only the receptionists, security personnel and a few workers were present. Even then some of them were in a hurry to go to the State House.
The workers were in red and black dresses while some wore black t-shirts with the minister's photograph embossed on it.
The Ministry was also decorated in black and red with posters of obituary pasted on its walls.
Madam Mary Otoo, a petty trader along the street of the ministry said in Twi that the Minister was a very responsible and hardworking man.
"He always passed in front of me to work very early in the morning which was a sign of hard work," she added.
The Minister's body would be conveyed to Agogo in the Ashanti Region later in the day for burial on Saturday.
Mr. Baah-Wiredu died in a South African hospital on September 24.
