The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA), Alfred Allotey-Gaisie, will lead a three-man delegation to represent Ghana at the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, from November 4 to 6, 2025.
The global summit, organised by the Barcelona City Council, will host leaders from over 700 cities worldwide and serve as a premier platform for exchanging ideas on how technology can foster more sustainable, inclusive, and citizen-centred urban environments.
Mr Allotey-Gaisie will feature as a speaker under the session titled “Governance for Smarter Growth: Innovation and Digital Futures,” where he will present on the topic: “Korle Klottey Boosts Revenue with Digital Payment Reforms: Transforming Local Governance in Ghana.”
He will highlight how KoKMA’s digital transformation agenda has streamlined revenue collection systems, enhanced transparency, and improved service delivery at the local level.
The session, which forms part of the Governance and Economy track, will bring together urban leaders and innovators to explore how cities are embracing digitalisation and new governance models to accelerate sustainable development, drive innovation, and ensure long-term economic vitality.
As cities strive to balance economic growth, sustainability, and digital transformation, forward-looking governance strategies and innovation hubs are becoming essential to fostering prosperity and resilience.
In a statement ahead of the conference, Mr Allotey-Gaisie emphasised the importance of Ghana’s participation in global discussions on digital transformation and sustainable urban development, describing it as “a proud moment for Ghana and for the people of Korle Klottey.”
