The Ghana Health Service on Wednesday, 20th November, 2024, held its second Excellence Awards at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.
In attendance were the President, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo; the Ga mantse, His Royal Majesty, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II; the Minister of Health, Hon Dr Bernard Okoe Boye and the Director General of the Ghana Health Services, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, among others.
Vivian Opoku Kyeremeh, a Principal Midwifery Officer from Dumasua health center, Sunyani West District in the Bono region, emerged as the overall National Winner (General Staff Category). She went home with a certificate, plaque, 50 LED smart TV, a brand new Saloon vehicle and an all expense-paid trip for 2 to Dubai.
Various health workers, from all the over the country, were also awarded for their diligent discharge of duty. They went home with certificates, electrical gadgets, plaques, all expense-paid stay in 4 star hotels and motorbikes.
The award categories were General Staff Awards, Institutional and Leadership Excellence Awards and Special Awards. The awards were structured at the district, headquarters and national levels.
The awards were instituted, among others, to promote excellence in healthcare delivery through professionalism and innovation, improve and sustain quality healthcare in Ghana, motivate health workers at all levels to perform at their best and encourage health workers to serve in deprived areas.
