Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has lauded the fourth batch of Free Senior High School (SHS) graduates for their impressive performance in the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), acknowledging the immense contributions of teachers and parents to their success.
Experts have hailed this year's results as the best since 2015, a testament to the dedication and hard work of all involved. Taking to his Facebook page, Dr. Bawumia celebrated the students, teachers, and parents, writing: "Congratulations to all WASSCE students, their teachers as well as their parents for the excellent performance attained by the students in this year's WASSCE."
He continued, "This is no doubt the result of hard work and dedication by all of you. You have made Ghana proud and I wish you the very best as you move on to greater challenges."
However, the outstanding results have been met with criticism from former President Mahama, who alleged widespread cheating facilitated by teachers.
Addressing these claims, Dr. Bawumia urged the graduates not to be disheartened by negativity.
"Please don't let anyone denigrate your achievements," he wrote. "Not everyone can appreciate what it takes to be an intelligent student. You have earned the excellent performances by sheer hard work. God bless you."
