The quantities of exercise, text and story books, the company said are to be distributed among the pupils and students of the school.

Mr Kwasi Kwarteng, the Manager of MTN's Territorial Controller for Brong-Ahafo South, said the presentation is in line with the company's 21-day yellow care campaign.

He said the campaign, being held annually was introduced 10 years ago, as a means for the company to give back to society.

Mr Kwarteng said the proper upbringing and development of the pupils was a shared and collective responsibility hence the need for the books to help polish their reading skills.

He advised teachers and parents to guide the children such that they would find the books beneficial.

Mr Peter Yaw Boakye, the Head of Inspectorate at the Sunyani Municipal Directorate of Education, thanked the company for the books and directed the school authorities to ensure that the books would be distributed among the children as soon as possible.

He said it is the responsibility of the teachers to ensure that the school children develop interest in reading and writing.

Mr Philip Ballu, the Head teacher, said the school has a population of 550 children adding that many of them lacked the text books because their parents cannot afford to buy them.

He expressed appreciation to MTN and appealed to the company to build a library for the school.

Mr Ballu also appealed to the company to buy more text books as well as other teaching and learning materials for the teachers to facilitate effective academic work.
