Mfantsipim Senior High School winners of the 2025 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) have paid a visit to MobileMoney Limited (MML) in Accra, in a celebration of their academic triumph and in recognition of MML’s continued support of Ghana’s youth and STEM-education.
Shaibu Haruna, Chief Executive Officer of MobileMoney Limited, praised the Mfantsipim team for both their academic excellence and the broader role of STEM education in shaping Ghana’s future.
“The National Science and Maths Quiz is more than just a quiz event, the spirit of it and the exhibition of excellence is what is quite inspiring.”
“At the core of what we do in Mobile Money is financial technology and the engine that drives financial technology is the science. The technology aspect of it, and the engineering that it embodies.”
He expressed immense pride in the talent emerging from schools like Mfantsipim, noting that such students were the brainpower that would feed future innovation in Ghana’s tech space. He also acknowledged the support system behind the students; their teachers, mentors, and the Old Boys Association.
Mr. Samuel Narte Ajor, Associate Client Service Director at Primetime Limited, the producers of the NSMQ, reflected on the journey collaboration between Primetime and MML.
He noted that the partnership was not just a one-off activation:
“We believe there’s a lot more that we can do going forward. This is not just a one-off thing, but something that’s going to continue.”
Mr Ajor emphasized that MML’s support has been instrumental in not just growing the quiz, but in deepening its impact, and said he looked forward to more “exciting years ahead” through the collaborative work.
Abdul Razak Issaka Ali, Chief Commercial Operating Officer at MobileMoney Limited, reaffirmed MML’s commitment to youth and education.
“When the opportunity came to be a part of this, it was a no-brainer for us. Not just because of the platform, but also because of our responsibility to support the youth and education of the youth.”
He called the NSMQ one of the faces of youth education in Ghana and said MML saw sponsoring the quiz as integral to its financial inclusion agenda.
Speaking to the students, Sylvia Otuo-Acheampong, Chief Products & Services Officer of MobileMoney Limited, urged the young champions to keep pace with global trends:
“Just follow the trend of where the world is going and stay relevant. That’s the most important aspect of life. What you need today, tomorrow has changed. So keep abreast with the times and stay focused. You will get there.”
During the visit, the Mfantsipim team extended their heartfelt thanks to MML for sponsoring the quiz and for championing education. They also expressed appreciation for their teachers, their teammates, and MOBA (Mfantsipim Old Boys Association) for their support.
Mfantsipim SHS secured the 2025 NSMQ crown with 56 points, defeating St. Augustine’s College (42 points) and Opoku Ware School (29 points) in a highly competitive grand finale at the University of Cape Coast.
