The Kade District Magistrate Court on Wednesday ordered that a boy who gave his age as 14 be sent to the boy's remand home at Osu in Accra until March 25 for multiple theft.
The boy, Kofi Babone, (not his real name), a school drop out appeared before the court charged with eight counts of conspiracy to steal, unlawful
entry, stealing, attempting to steal and possessing instrument intended or adopted for unlawful purpose.
He pleaded guilty to all the counts and admitted breaking into a beer bar with a colleague, now at large, and stealing drinks valued at over GHC 200
They also broke into a provision store and stole some provisions valued at about GHC 200
Detective Corporal Owusu Achiaw told the court, which sat in chambers, that the boy in February conspired with his friends and broke into a beer bar at Adankrono and stole the drinks.
On February 22, they unlawfully entered a provision store and some provisions.
On February 26 Babone, this time acting alone, armed himself with a crowbar and went to another provision store at about 0130 hours but as he was attempting to break in the owner of the shop appeared and he took to his heels.
The alarm was raised and neighbours helped to arrest him.
When his room was searched, empty beer bottles were found there.
When asked if he drank all the bottles of drinks, he said he drank some and sold some to friends at a ghetto near the Birim River used by wee smokers.
