A 71-year old farmer of Akoefe-Atsati in the Ho Municipality, was on Tuesday remanded in prison custody by a Ho Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a 13-year old class five pupil.
Kwadwo Koku pleaded guilty but said his attempts to penetrate the victim several times proved futile.
He would be sent back to court today, Wednesday, March 17. Chief Inspector Sampson Agboado, prosecuting, told the Court presided
over by Mr Ernest Obimpeh, that Koku and the victim lived in the same area and that Koku had been visiting the victim's grandfather, his friend.
He said Koku made overtures to the victim anytime he visited his friend.
Chief Inspector Agboado said one Kporhor, a 16 year-old girlfriend of Koku befriended the victim and often sent her to collect money from Koku.
He said Koku took advantage of the visits and defiled the victim on three occasions.
Chief Inspector Agboado said on the fourth occasion, luck eluded Koku because the aunt of the victim caught him the act and raised the alarm to
attract other people to the scene.
He said a complaint was lodged at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Police Service and Koku was arrested.
