Mr Samuel Sarpong, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), on Thursday inspected a number of on-going school and health projects in the metropolis financed with the assembly's share of the Common Fund.
This was to enable him to assess the progress of work done by the contractors.
The projects included four-unit classroom blocks for Emena, Buobai, Anwomaso basic schools and a 12-unit classroom block for the Prempeh College
M/A Basic School.
The rest were a maternity block at the Suntreso Government Hospital, Public Health Unit for the Kumasi South Hospital, and washrooms for the Ohwimase, Boadi and Asawase M/A Basic Schools.
Mr Sarpong said the Assembly was determined to improve and expand educational infrastructure in the metropolis.
This was on account of the important role education plays in national development.
He encouraged corporate bodies to collaborate with Government to create the right environment for smooth teaching and learning.
The MCE called on the contractors working on the projects to work hard to keep to the time schedule and ensure value for money.
