The German-Ghanaian Friendship Association (GGFA) is constructing a GH¢195,000 ultra-modern kindergarten at the Denkyemuoso Vocational Centre in Kumasi.
Mr Joseph Kwabena Onyinah, Ashanti Regional Director of Education, announced this at the ceremony to mark commencement of work on the project on Tuesday at Denkyemuoso.
He called on Ghanaians to give priority to early childhood development to provide solid foundation for the development of the nation's educational system.
He praised the Association for the initiative and pledged to support the project.
Mr. Onyinah told parents that education was the best legacy they could bequeath to their children.
He advised parents to provide their children with basic needs and ensure that they were retained in the classrooms.
Mr Jeffrey Johnson Franke, President of the Association, said the project was aimed at promoting the development of children.
He appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to assist the Centre to fence around its compound to prevent the residents from dumping waste and defecating there.
Mr Osei Wusu, founder of the vocational institution, praise a German philanthropist, Mrs Ingvid Goetz for donating 10,000 Euros in support of the Home Economics Department of the centre and the building of a students' hostel.
