Ghanaian rapper D-Cryme, has officially announced his intention to contest for the presidency of the Student Representative Council (SRC) at Methodist University Ghana.
The "Kill Me Shy" hitmaker made the declaration through a post on his social media platforms on April 7, 2025.
In his announcement, D-Cryme born Darlington Agyekum, called on the student body to rally behind his vision for transformational leadership.
He emphasised the need for transparency, accountability, and proactive governance, promising to usher in a new era that prioritizes the needs and voices of all students.
“Dear fellow students, the time for transformational leadership is NOW! Team D-Cryme is here to champion a new era of Transparency, Accountability, and Action. Our mission is clear: to build a campus that supports, protects, and uplifts every student,” he wrote.
As part of his agenda, the rapper is committed to improving academic support systems, enhancing student welfare, and advocating for the development of campus infrastructure.
He also plans to increase student engagement, encourage active participation in governance, and expand access to financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
D-Cryme’s bold step into campus politics places him among a growing list of Ghanaian creatives who are taking up leadership roles within academic institutions.
Reggae/Dancehall artiste Samini was sworn into office on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 as SRC President of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), while rapper Guru, known born Maradona Adjei Yeboah, currently holds the SRC presidency at the University of Ghana.
