On January 29, Rihanna attended the trial, sitting alongside Rocky’s mother, Renee Black, and his sister, Erika B. Mayers, at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
This marks Rihanna’s first time publicly backing Rocky since the case began. Her appearance comes just hours after the couple enjoyed a date night in Los Angeles. Rocky also rejected a plea deal and opted for a jury trial instead. If convicted, he could face up to 24 years in prison. His defense team argues that the weapon in question was merely a prop used to ward off potential threats and that he is legally permitted to carry a firearm in California.
However, the prosecution has presented a different narrative. Deputy District Attorney Paul B. Przelomiec stated that the case was straightforward and urged jurors to use common sense when weighing the evidence. Relli has filed a civil lawsuit against Rocky, claiming assault, battery, and emotional distress. Rocky was arrested in April 2022 after returning from a vacation with Rihanna in Barbados. He posted a $550,000 bond for his release.
