Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician Nana Yaw Boakye, popularly known as MOG, has encouraged his fellow gospel artistes to focus on building meaningful relationships rather than solely prioritising monetary gains.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Upside Down Show on Sunday, December 22, MOG highlighted the significance of relationships in the ministry of gospel music.
The award-winning artiste emphasized that while a lot of resources go into conceptualizing and executing music projects, the value of relationships often surpasses financial considerations.
“Money is good, but I believe what gives good money is the relationship. If you can manage the relationship well, you can harness a lot more than how much you can even charge,” he stated.
He elaborated on how relationships can lead to unexpected blessings and opportunities, noting that a strong connection with people makes it easier to collaborate and give freely without reservations.
“This is because when I have a relationship with somebody, giving my everything to the person wouldn’t hurt because of the relationship I have. There is a saying that the highest form of currency you can ever find is a relationship.
“So, for me, my goal has always been building a strong relationship with people that God lays in their hearts to put me in programmes. By so doing, they end up being a blessing more than I could expect or I would charge,” he stated.
“… I don’t blame those who ask for money upfront before their show. It is because of their experience from certain events or certain individuals. So, based on that, they take a firm stance that you have to pay for them or they are not coming.
“For me, I can’t share my opinion on it. My thing is, it is based on how you relate with people. When I see it, it will affirm if I am going to come the next time you invite me or not.”
