CFAO Ghana Limited, a multinational company,
on Friday unveiled its new Mitsubishi Lancer EX range of saloon cars at
a ceremony in Accra with a promise to deliver to Ghanaian customers fuel-efficient and reliable cars at affordable cost.
Mr Thomas Pelletier, Managing Director CFAO Ghana Limited, told a
press conference on Friday ahead of the launch that the company remained
focused on its strategy to capture a significant share of the saloon car
market in the next few years.
The Lancer EX comes in two engine types 1.5 and 2.0 Litres.
"I am confident that the new Mitsubishi Lancer EX will be the answer
to the ever-growing demand for stylish quality saloon cars in Ghana," Mr Pelletier said.
The saloon car market is currently distributed between the Japanese and European cars and the low cost vehicles from India and China.
Mr Pelletier expressed the hope that Ghanaian customers would find the Lancer a good alternative at a significantly lower price with unquestionable design and features over the others.
According to him, good governance coupled with economic growth and reduced interest rates had boosted the automobile market in the country with a lot more people able to afford brand new cars.
CFAO is targeting the financial institutions, business corporations and
the growing Ghanaian Middle class as the prime market.
Mr Pelletier said CFAO had established partnership with most banks, whose customers can use to enable them to pay for the car on instalment basis.
There is also a two-year warranty or 50,000 kilometres, which ever comes first.
Mr. Sammy Oddoye, Manager in-charge of Tenders and Special Projects, who presented the technical details of the Lancer EX said a sterling quality of the car is its reliability and versatility on all types of roads.
CFAO started operation in Sekondi in 1909. The group is now owned by PPR, a French conglomerate listed on the Paris Stock Exchange. It has presence in 33 African countries.
In Ghana CFAO acquired the franchise for Mitsubishi vehicle distribution in 2004 and deals in the Pajero and the L200 pick-ups.
