The State Housing Company (SHC) is set to partner with both local and international construction firms to fast-track the completion of stalled affordable housing projects across the country.
Under this renewed strategy, the selected firms will pre-finance the projects, a move expected to boost efficiency and revive developments abandoned by previous administrations.
Speaking at the commissioning of Seasons Courts, a newly completed apartment complex featuring two – and three-bedroom units in Adenta, Managing Director John Bawa reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering housing projects that have suffered long delays.
“The strategy is to bring in major contracting companies, both local and international, who have the financial muscle. You know, one of the biggest strengths State Housing has is our brand equity and consumer trust.
“And so once the buildings start going up, as you heard the business development manager say, this building is already sold out, and yet we are just commissioning it. So our offtake is our security for contractors and private sector partners. So the contractor that’s coming on board, for example, for Pokuase, is coming with the financing to build the unit, “he noted.
Mr. Bawa further assured prospective homeowners that all lands secured by the company for its projects are litigation-free, ensuring a smooth acquisition process.
