Type Group Of Companies has launched a first of its kind mobile self-service laundry, RapidWash, in partnership with Vivo Energy Ghana in Community 18, Tema in the Greater Accra Region. The partnership meant RapidWash would install mobile laundry machines in as many Shell stations across the country with a turn around time of 30 minutes per washing cycle.
Speaking at the launch, Mr Coby Asmah, CEO of Type Group and founder of RapidWash said that the aim of the partnership was to bring convenience to many families in Ghana.
The Revolution Compact Machines, he disclosed, were fully integrated laundry machines with high-capacity washers, dryer and a complete payment terminal including a state-of the-art touch screen for enhanced customer experience.
"The LED illuminated and eco-friendly machines require only 16kilowatts (KW) (of what) and are ideal for washing large or heavy loads such as bedsheets, blankets and pillows in 30 minutes allowing customers to combine washing with busy schedules at affordable costs" he added.
The laundry machine has only 50 per cent humidity compared to other washing machines which have 80 per cent. This, Mr Asmah said, ensured quicker drying time and ease of handling.
He again noted that five stations had already been selected in the Accra municipality for laundries with twenty more to be spread across Kumasi, Cape Coast, Winneba and Sunyani. He said that the locations outside the Greater Accra Region will focus on tertiary institutions and already established laundries.
Mr Samuel Buah-Kwofie, Head of Convenience and Non-Fuel Retail Vivo Energy Ghana, reiterated Vivo Energy's commitment to partnering with Ghanaian owned businesses to ensure growth.
"As part of our plans to provide warm, delightful, modern convenience offering to our customers, the management of Vivo Energy decided to partner with RapidWash to offer professional and convenient self-service laundry experience, the kind experienced in Europe and the Americas at your favourite Tema Community 18 Shell Service Station" Mr Buah-Kwofie explained.
He added that Vivo Energy's vison was to create Africa's most respected energy business with its heritage Retail brand Shell, having had a strong presence in Ghana since 1928. The company's Non-Fuel Retail (NFR) offer has had the highest quality perception in the Oil Marketing Industry, resulting from hard work and superior customer service among others.
He urged customers in Sakumono, Lashibi and Spintex to visit the laundry.
Mr Ernest Ofosu Antwi, a member of the Project Coordinating Team said that the laundry service became necessary during the COVID-19 PANDEMIC when families became inundated with work amid restrictions.
He emphasized RapidWash's readiness to partner other institutions such as schools, hostels, apartments and so on.
"We are looking to bridge the gap between being able to wash and not washing at a costly price", he stated.
Ms. Nana Ama Mensah, a Marketer at Type Company Limited said that RapidWash would soon establish a training school to teach Senior High School Graduates and other young people interested in learning laundry washing as a means of self-employment.
The self-service laundry will run from 6am to 10pm daily and also allows for drop offs and pickups. Customers will enjoy a 25 per cent discount for the month of March, 2022.
