The Managing Director, Alhaji Alhassan Yakubu-Tali, said celebrating the country’s farmers and fishers over the past 40 years indicates the indispensable role agriculture played in sustaining food security, generating employment and driving economic development across the country and beyond.
“Today, we honour not only the immense contribution of our farmers and fishers, but also the indispensable role agriculture plays in sustaining food security, generating employment and driving economic development across the country,” he added.
He said since 1965, ADB had stood by the nation’s farmers and fishers by providing innovative financial products, advisory services and partnerships that facilitated access to markets and strengthened the agribusiness value chain.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to providing financial and advisory services for the sustainable growth of the entire agric value chain for wealth creation,” he added.
Alhaji Yakubu-Tali said that this year’s celebration marked a significant milestone and served as a reminder of “our responsibility as a title sponsor to continue expanding opportunities for growth and resilience within the agricultural sector.
“ADB PLC will continue to be the bank of choice for agribusiness financing, providing universal products and services that best serve the needs of the agricultural sector and beyond,” he said.
The MD, who was recently adjudged the Public Sector CEO 2024, added that the bank would continue to be a lead partner for the implementation of agricultural policy initiatives by the government such as the Planting for Food and Jobs, One District, One Factory (1D1F) and Tree Crops Development.
“Once again, on behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of ADB, I would like to congratulate the 2024 National Best Farmer and all our gallant farmers and fishers on their relentless contribution to wealth creation through agriculture and agribusiness,” he said.
