The fastest growing top-tier media agency in Ghana, PHD Media, part of Omnicom Media Group, a global media network, has announced a programme of activities to mark its 10th anniversary throughout the rest of 2021.
Commenting on the agency’s plan to celebrate the milestone, Bright Ladzekpo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at PHD Ghana said, “We look back at the first decade of our journey with both pride and humility. We are proud of our people and humbled by our performance so far. At a time when world is having to endure over a year of lockdowns and other forms of restrictions to help bring the coronavirus under control, there is the need to re-energize and prepare for a rebound as we look ahead to economic and socio-economic recovery. As such, we at PHD Ghana are focused on pursuing our goals for re-energizing our people, our clients’ brands and our industry, during this auspicious year.”
PHD Ghana opened for business in Accra with only the pioneering General Manager and now Managing Director, in August 2011, who then selected three young graduates, namely Maudina Mensah-Kane Emma Asante, and Owusu Panin Owusu-Ankomah from top Ghanaian universities, KNUST, UPS and Ashesi respectively, to form a pioneering staff team. The agency now has a local staff and management team of 27 supported by specialists from OMG’s West and Central Africa (WeCA) team and PHD’s Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regional and global leadership teams at the Worldwide offices in London.
Outlining the anniversary activities, Ladzekpo said, “We have planned our celebration over a 10-month period and under three thematic areas of focus – People, Process and Performance. Our management and staff teams will undertake a series of small but meaningful internal activities which will culminate in a purposeful community-based project for social good. Our clients, technology and media partners will experience the impact of an evolved way of working. Our industry will benefit from our forward-looking thoughts about the shifts we foresee in the years ahead and the new ways in which we will measure our performance and impact.”
PHD is currently one of the top three media agencies in Ghana according to rankings report by RECMA in June 2020 (https://www.recma.com/how-do-we-rank-agencies/) for billings for overall activities in 2019, and is poised to move up based on a growth in activities in 2020, to retain its position as the fastest growing agency.
PHD’s under 30 year olds who participated in the West Africa Young Media Lions competition during Creativity Week in 2020, won the top prize to retain their winning title in 2019. In 2016, the team broke into the top 10 ranking at 9th position on the global leader board for use of PHD’s live collaboration and work-flow platform, Omni Studio. In 2015, PHD Ghana’s Bright Ladzekpo became the first from Africa to be selected for PHD’s global exchange programme to work with Worldwide leadership and global business teams in London.
“On behalf of our Board of Directors, our local management team, and staff, we take this opportunity to extend our immense appreciation to all who have supported us on this journey of growth over the past decade. We will continue to count on all the good will and support to help our clients make the leap above their competitors and achieve disproportionate business growth,” said Ladzekpo.
With the deep integration with the regional and global teams in driving growth in media expertise, supported with specialist capabilities in digital, PHD Ghana has retained its agency of record status with existing and long-standing clients such as Scancom (MTN Ghana), Unilever, SC Johnson and AYO, to name a few.
