ELWAK Wings Ladies Volleball club will challenge the Ghana AirForce for the annual Greater Accra Superchampions cup at the Borteyman Sports Complex on Sunday.
In what is anticipated to be a cracker of a volleyball clash at the volleyball dome at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Greater Accra on November 3, Elwak Wings Ladies will face-off with their counterparts from the Ghana Airforce in the final of the super cup at 1pm.
The super-cup clash involves the winner of the league and the winner of the Top eight. ELWAK Wings won the Top Eight while the Ghana Air Force won the season’s league.
The winner will win the trophy at stake which is the super champions cup and other mouth-watering prices on Sunday.
The men’s event will witness an all military clash at 4pm, involving the Ghana Airforce who won this year’s men’s volleyball league and the winners of the men’s top eight, the Ghana Army who beat El-Wak Wings’ men’s team 3-2 in the final.
Elwak Wings Ladies, a civilian volleyball club in Accra defeated Osu Youth, the Ghana Navy, the Ghana Immigration Service in the group stages of the Top Eight competition to progress to the semi-final of the competition.
In the semifinal the beat Airforce 3-1 and won 3-2 (25-23, 25-27, 25-22, 25-23, 22-20) against the Ghana Immigration Service in the final to become the top eight champions and win the top eight cup.
The competition staged at the ELWAK Sports Stadium last Saturday also saw the Ghana Army male team win the men’s version of the top eight.
The manager of ELWAK Wings Divine Edem Dotse revealed to the Graphic Sports that his outfit is the first civilian volleyball to win the Top 8 and also disclosed that they became the first civilian team that won the league two season’s ago.
He appealed for support from corporate bodies to help the team participate in the upcoming African club tournaments.
