Medivents Consult has announced the date for the second edition of the Accra Inter-City Marathon. The event will take place on Saturday, July 29, 2023, to coincide with the annual Ga Homowo Festival.
The Ga Traditional Council (GTC) has approved the event as part of the festival's activities.
The organisers plan to introduce more activities to make the event exciting and attractive to all participants. In addition to the flagship 21-kilometre race, there will be 10 and five-kilometre races for interested participants.
A special Sports Expo for sponsors and other corporate bodies will be introduced to add more value to their sponsorship.
Unlike the previous year's event, which started at Spintex Road, the 2023 edition will commence at the Accra Sports Stadium and end at Mantse Agbona, James Town.
The organisers have assured participants that they will seek to improve the 2023 edition in terms of prizing, security, and safety of athletes, among others.
The first edition of the Accra Inter-City Marathon was initiated last year by Medivents Consult in partnership with the Ga Traditional Council and attracted close to 1,000 athletes, with Martin Tirop from Kenya emerging as the winner.
