Mr George Ayisi-Boateng, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, has called on Madam Hawa Yakubu, the defeated Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central to desist from attempt to cause division and confusion in the NPP.
He said an attempt by Madam Yakubu to blame the Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama for her defeat in the December 7 elections, was a ploy well orchestrated by her to portray to the international community that some powers that be were against her.
Addressing a press conference in Kumasi on Tuesday to react to effusions by Madam Yakubu in her recent news conference in Accra, Mr Ayisi-Boateng asked the defeated MP not to pass the buck.
He said the Vice President has endeared himself very well to many Ghanaians including his kinsmen from the three northern regions and this played a significant role in the successful improvement in the party's performance in the regions during the last elections, adding that, the attack on the personality of the Vice President by Madam Yakubu was an attempt to ridicule him.
Mr Ayisi-Boateng, who described himself as a true royal of the Danqua-Busia Tradition said, "No one stops anyone from pursuing an ambition, but it must be done clean, devoid of acrimony and maligning".
"At the moment, I am inclined to believe that Honourable Madam Yakubu finds herself in a state of delirium and therefore, picked a wrong baton", he stressed.
He appealed to Madam Yakubu to leave Alhaji Mahama alone and not to attempt to create further confusion among party members in the Northern Region.
Mr Ayisi-Boateng also appealed to the people of the north to rally behind the Vice President and the government to ensure accelerated development in the area.
