Karela United forward William Opoku Mensah is on the verge of completing a transfer to USL Championship club Swope Park Rangers.
The deal announced today is pending the receipt of Opoku's International Transfer Certificate (ITC), as well as pending league and federation approval.
Opoku, skipper for Karela in the 2018 Ghanaian Premier League campaign, scored seven goals in just 11 games, including a 19-minute hat trick against powerhouse, Accra Hearts of Oak, last April.
Opoku, 23, joined Karela United from his youth club, Sekondi Eleven Wise, in 2015. He helped Karela earn promotion to the Ghanaian Premier League from Division One in 2017.
The Swope Park Rangers are a USL Championship club affiliated with Sporting Kansas City of Major League Soccer.
They begin their campaign away at the New York Red Bulls II on March 9 at MSU Soccer Park, before returning to Kansas City for their home opener against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Children’s Mercy Park on March 23.
