Mr. Paul Atchoe, Chef du Mission (CDM) for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and members of the planning committee, has met presidents of the various sports associations/ federations, to discuss preparations towards the next Olympic Games in Japan.
The meeting, was attended by the presidents of volleyball, swimming, powerlifting, mass sports/sports for all, armwrestling and representatives for rugby, kick boxing, boxing and taekwondo.
Mr. Achoe said preparations for Tokyo 2020 has started early to enable the nation to achieve its dream of winning the first Olympic gold medal.
He said they created some level of awareness after the launch of the committee at the Accra International Conference Centre, but the momentum slowed down after the Commonwealth Games, adding that, the dream must continue.
Mr. Achoe said, Ghana must be well represented in 2020 and the focus was on winning gold, adding that, the federations must also consider their strong medal hopefuls and potentials, so that the GOC and government of Ghana would develop plans to support them.
He expressed the hope that, the preparation was very important and athletes must be well prepared to go through the qualification process to represent the nation.
