Mr. Theo Wilson Edzie, president of the Ghana Swimming Association (GSA), has commended young swimmers of Team Ghana, at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Australia, for exhibiting good show at the event.
“Ghana Swimming has clearly moved to another level. We had a lot of commendation for sticking to the strategy of developing young swimmers and giving them opportunities to compete at the highest levels.
“Many people have taken notes in swimming and also commended us for improved times as compared to Glasgow 2014,” he stated.
Ghana took four swimmers to the Games - two females - Rebecca Asare (50m back crawl), Maayaa Ayawere (50m and 100m free) and two males Jason Jude Arthur based in the United States of America (USA) and member of White Sharks (100m & 200m back and 200m IM) and Abeiku Jackson (50m and 100m fly and 50m free).
He said the broad strategy is to develop the semifinalists to finalists; participation to semis and even bigger participation in Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024 and beyond,” he added.
