Dr. Kojo Taylor, the owner and bankroller of Ladystrikers Football Club, has said that, he has tasked his coach Rashid Iddi to win the 2017/2018 National Women’s League (NWL) trophy, as the competition commences on Saturday, April 7.
Dr. Taylor, who is also the President of the Sanford World Clinic has targeted the Sanford FA Cup title. Ladystrikers were defeated by a lone goal when they played Ampem Darkoa in the finals of the competition at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in October and Dr. Taylor is optimistic his team would emerge champions this season.
To achieve this feat, he recruited Hassacas duo Veronica Appiah and Mabel Baffour Eshun, whilst Gifty Adddai Boakye and Faustina Owusu Nyamekye joined from Kumasi-based club Supreme Ladies and Subayo Ladies in Obuasi respectively.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony on Thursday at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, the owner of the Cape Coast based club, said that "I believe my target to my coach to win this year’s National Women’s League title was a feasible, because of the quality of players we have added to the team.
“I know we had a good team last year and we just needed one or two players to be added to achieve our target. With these few players added, I believe that should be sufficient for us to win the double this year.”
Ladystrikers will open the season’s campaign against Samaria Ladies at the Cape Coast Stadium.
