Ms Ophelia Koomson, the Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has stressed the need for people to address their grievances with civility.
“We need a peaceful academic and working environment to make progress. We should allow due process to work and avoid unorthodox means of seeking redress on labour issues,” she said.
Ms Koomson was addressing a parade of 750 pupils drawn from 32 Basic and second Cycle Institutions and 10 Voluntary organizations at the Akyem Oda Sports Stadium on Sunday to mark Ghana’s 54 Independence Anniversary.
She urged the youth, especially school children, to realize that they would forever be remembered should they sacrifice their time, energy and resources to seek the betterment of all
Ghanaians as was done by “our great grand fathers and parents”.
The MCE reminded the youth that “our forefathers toiled with their sweat and blood to gain Independence for mother Ghana”.
Ms Koomson said all over the world, it took effective partnership and collaboration between the Government and the private sector to develop their countries.
She called for concerted efforts from the private sector, traditional authorities, faith based organizations and civil society organizations to contribute their quota towards building a strong and prosperous nation.
Ms Koomson noted that, discipline and hard work could play a critical role to sustain the development of the country that would ultimately translate into the better Ghana Agenda of the nation.
