The Kwaebibirem District Assembly has received GH¢673,320.88 from the District Development fund.
The fund was set up by the government to support hardworking districts to implement their development plans, Mr George Agyemang Duah, the District Chief Executive, has said.
Addressing an ordinary meeting of the assembly at Kade on Tuesday Mr Duah explained that the fund had two components, development and capacity building.
Of the amount received the development component amounted to GH¢605,940.40 whiles the capacity building was GH¢67,374.75.
He said the fund would be channeled into environment and sanitation, education infrastructure, social and economic programmes such as construction of public places of convenience, school blocks, market stalls
and the tarring of the Boadua Lorry Park.
On the financial position of the assembly, Mr Duah said the assembly's finances this year had been encouraging as compared to previous years.
He said the assembly had so far received 3,086,059.70 Ghana cedis revenue from its traditional sources and from the central government.
He gave the breakdown as follows; District Assemblies Common fund-GH¢477,225.56, DANIDA-GH¢1,577,579.96, District Development Fund
including training-GH¢672,320.88, Stool Lands Revenue-GH¢63,799.94 and the assembly's own traditional sources-GH¢314,618.30.
Mr Duah said of the total amount received GH¢1,809,218.12 had been spent on development projects and programmes.
He said crime rate had reduced considerably and also most of the protracted chieftaincy problems had been settled amicably.
