Mozambique’s Deputy Health Minister Lídia Cardoso has said vaccines had arrived in the country at an "opportune moment" as the country is experiencing its third Covid wave.
Dr Cardoso received 158,000 doses in two different ceremonies at the main airport.
Of the doses, 50,000 were donated by Portugal and 108,000 others by France.
All the doses are AstraZeneca vaccines.
Coronavirus cases in the country are on the rise. Mozambique registered 26 deaths in the first four days of July.
The ministry is urging the public to follow guidelines put in place to reduce the spread of the virus.
