In line with its CSR initiatives and support towards peaceful elections in the country come December 7, Tigo, one of Ghana's telecommunications giants has made a presentation of mobile devices and free airtime to the National Election Security Taskforce (NEST). These items are to boost the communication requirements of the Communication Sub-committee of the Taskforce.
Speaking on behalf of the sub-committee, ACP Teddyson Aidoo said they were most grateful to Tigo for their kind and timely demonstration of support. "Tigo has demonstrated that they are a company that shares in the national cry for peace. I am expressing our profound gratitude to you not only for the donation of these essential items, but also, as one of the first companies that heeded to our call for additional resources to enable us carry out our duties effectively during this elections" he said.
He mentioned that the Communications Sub-committee's duty was to ensure smooth communication during the election period. "Just few moments ago, we were under resourced, but with the smile Tigo has put on our face, I can promise the entire nation that we will deliver a good communication system that will add to the beauty of this election" he added.
Presenting the items to the NEST team, the Brands Manager for Tigo Ghana, Ms. Linda Narh said this one of Tigo's CSR initiatives towards the elections and hoped that the items will help facilitate the smooth communication between the security agencies to help promote peace, security and stability. "It is a crucial time in our nation's political practice and we are happy to be contributing to a course that will see to a peaceful election" She added. She used the opportunity to entreat all Ghanaians to maintain the peace and collaborate with the security agencies. Present were Major Samuel Kofi Ofosu of the Ghana Armed Forces, ACP Teddyson Aidoo and Chief Inspector Isaac Ocansey of the Ghana Police Service, a representative of the Ghana Immigration Service, Senior Inspector Elvis Owusu and Divisional Officer III Lawson Yeboah of the Ghana Fire Service.
