The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) is holding a two-day open-day on Wednesday and Thursday at its headquarters to mark World Standards Day.
A statement signed by Ezekiel Darku, Volta Regional Officer of the GSA, said the colloquium would afford students, consumers, manufacturers, importers and exporters and other stakeholders to discuss and ask questions on issues about standardization.
This year's theme of the Day, marked every October 14th is: "Less Waste, Better Results-Standards Increase Efficiency".
The statement said, "Efficiency indicates the ability to achieve objectives by implementing processes to develop products or services of optimal quality with minimal waste, expense or unnecessary effort".
Besides the open-day, the GSA will on Friday October 12, commemorate the Day at its premises in Accra.
The statement said the Day honours the efforts of the thousands of experts who develop voluntary standards within standard development organizations such as the International Electro-Technical Commission, International Organization for Standardization and the International Telecommunication.
It said the aim of World Standards Day "is to raise awareness among regulators, industry and consumers as to the importance of standardization to the global economy".
