A 15-member delegation from the Tuscaloosa Sister Cities International (TSCI) of Alabama State in the US on Wednesday presented 21 l lap top computers to four schools and a radio station in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
The computers, estimated at about ,500 signified, are an initial benefit emerging from the relationship between TSCI and the Sunyani Municipal Assembly and Techiman Municipal Assembly.
Sunyani Senior High School and the Saint James Junior High School in the Sunyani Municipality and Chiraa SHS in the Sunyani West District received five lap tops each and Sky FM in Sunyani had one.
Techiman SHS is the fourth school and the presentation would be done during a visit by the delegation to Techiman on Thursday.
The presentation was made after the delegation had been hosted by Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister in collaboration with the Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council and attended by some officials from the RCC, the two municipalities and traditional rulers.
The delegation was in Sunyani to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to affirm a sister-city relationship agreement between the Sunyani Municipal Assembly, Techiman Municipal Assembly and TSCI signed in Tuscaloosa in August 2011.
Mrs Lisa Keyes, Executive Director of TSCI and leader of the delegation, said the donation was not only to reach out to communities in the municipalities to cement the relationship but also to facilitate effective communication for a deeper and successful cooperation.
Mrs Georgina Boakye, the Headmistress of Sunyani SHS, expressed gratitude to the donors and said the computers would facilitate the study of Information, Communication and Technology.
